Transcending borders
The Last Overland Expedition embodies many of the values Klareco prides itself on: an international outlook, boldness in execution, a sense of adventure, and ability to thrive in complex, fast-changing environments.
Follow along with members of the Klareco team as they join the journey from Singapore to the Indian border in the original 1955 Series One Land Rover used in the First Overland.
Crossing the finish line
After traversing 23 countries, the Last Overland team finally arrived home in London, just yards away from
where the First Overland Expedition set off in 1955, on Sunday the 15th of December 2019.
The journey wasn’t without its bumps along the way—leaky roofs, mechanical problems, freezing weather, altitude sickness, food poisoning all plagued the expedition team at various points in the 19,000-kilometre journey. These challenges were surmounted through a combination of creative problem-solving, sheer determination, and good old-fashioned teamwork, which in the end brought the whole team across the finish line.
Two members of the Klareco team joined the Last Overland journey during its Southeast Asian leg, witnessing first-hand the extraordinary complexity and vibrancy of our home region, even far outside Southeast Asia’s political capitals and business hubs.
Along the way, the team was welcomed and hosted by enthusiastic local Land Rover fans, showcasing the power of heritage and a compelling brand story in engaging with your customers. Our problem-solving and crisis management skills were put to the test as the inevitable mechanical issues of driving a 64 year-old car emerged along the way.
Klareco Communications is proud to have helped tell the story of this epic, historic journey. The Last Overland embodies the grit, creativity and internationalism of our work and outlook and it was a privilege to support the team in accomplishing this incredible feat.
